This game is based on the Zork universe that is copyright of Activision, and the game is developed under kind permission of M.Laird (from Activision). The game is written with Inform by Stefano Canali, me. Please, this is my first IF game I ever wrote... ...so be kind to my mistakes! I always liked text adventures and, I don't know why, when I first heard of the competition I decided to enter a game, and I choosed Zork only because it the first adventure I ever played on my Commodore 64. For me Zork is still equivalent to IF. I know that this makes things tough for me and you. How to judge a game with an heavy name like Zork? How to find challenging puzzles after eight games on Zork?? How to make a classic fantasy game not boring in the 2000??? How do I make a good strawberry-cheescake???? (Well, this is a problem of mine...) Anyway, I made up to my best to not disappoint people that will play my game. My goal, with this first attempt to write an IF, have been to deliver a playable game. I didn't write this game thinking that could result a winner for competition, but I tryed to do an adventure good to be played, enjoyed, especially for someone that, like me, keeps Zork in special care. I worked on tending many aspects and extras to put some innovation: - different story twists with different endings; - different approach to same puzzles; - good interaction with NPC; - tons of references to Zork universe; - an HTML walkthrough with background story; - hidden WWW links inside the game to reach the best pages dedicated to Zork; - interaction outside the game (one way to solve a puzzle is to find a forgotten link on the real WWW and get into Frobozz Magic Online DB) (no fear, the interaction with the WWW is a "bonus", it is not required for solving the game) - in the game you'll find the locations deleted from the commercial version of RTZ like the "Sea of Mists" and the "Lake of Tears"....;(*):These locations will be available only in the release after the competition; - extra points if you reach hidden locations; ...and much more. I really hope you'll appreciate my work and you'll have fun playing this game. This is all I want. Stefano Canali.
